My 3D postcard

for the UK Stampers swap

The quest was to make a 3D postcard. The normal monthly postcard swap requires you to post the postcard naked (no envelope) so this was a one off swap that could be protected in the post.

I stamped the image & used distress crackle glaze over the copic colour on the wing. The background is distress inks & I used distress inks to colour in her dress.

The butterflies are punches, two different sizes glued together. I emphasised the edges using gold pen.

I used Andy Skinner quote stamps, some beautiful ribbon & some old currency coins & scattered the butterflies .....

I finished off with the bloom, the 3 elements held together with the small brad & the charm.


I boxed the postcard & stamped the box using a stamp set but didn't manage to take a photo in my haste to post!!

February Postcard swap

The theme for the February postcard swap on UK Stampers is Circles.

After hearing the theme I couldn't get out of my mind the song Windmill's of your Mind which begins - Like a circle in a spiral, Like a wheel within a wheel, Never ending or beginning, On an ever spinning reel .......

So my postcard is based on this.

Firstly I used distress inks to do the background colour.

To make the dots in the spirals I used my cropodile to cut a circle from an old distress ink pad which I stuck onto the end of the wooden end of a paintbrush that I removed the metal end with the bristles - necessity is the mother of invention!

I then wrote the wording round the outside of the spiral.

And stamped tempus fugit across the middle

I used part of the free stamp from Craft Stamper magazine & emphasized the eyes,

 & the face again a freebie from Craft stamper with the lips emphasized.

I finished by adding circles using the same distress inks as the background.

The details of the Altered tin that I made for the swap over on UK Stampers

The theme was wings

Glitter Monkey has now received the tin so I can share with the world :-)

This is the outside of the tin

and this is the inside.

Firstly I covered the tin using 12x12 paper.

I stamped the image, cut it out & then coloured the flesh areas with Copics.

The dress was painted with Distress crackle paint, weathered wood. The butterfly embellishment was securely glued using specialist metal glue.

I used crackle accents for the wings which I sprinkled with glitter whilst wet.

I used bronze 3D glitter-Gel for the hair to give colour & dimension.

The sentiment was stamped & mounted & the embellishment stars glued on & the bird secured with a toning brad fastened before gluing the sentiment down & snippets of lace popped on.

I used a key as a 'handle'

and managed to line up the paper properly on the top & bottom!!

The inside compartments were made in mount-board & coloured with alcohol inks, 

as was the part of the tin not covered with paper.

January Postcard Swap - Numbers

Over on the UK Stampers forum the January Postcard swap theme is Numbers.

I decided to use lots of numbers on my postcard.

Firstly I used my distress inks to make the background, blending them together where they met.

I then used my new Andy Skinner stamp set, suplemented with other number stamps from my stash.

I then stamped the sentiments onto card, number spelled out on one, cut out & inked the edges then stuck them firmly in place.

So there you have it my postcard to join the other 11 so far this month - why don't you join in - it's lots of fun & it's lovely to receive something special in the post :-)

My December Postcard

The theme for the December postcard swap over on UK Stampers is 'The top of the tree'

I chose a star for the top of my tree & wanted it to be the 'star' of my postcard.

I started with a base of blue card & used blue stazon ink to stamp the background - Santa, presents & Christmas writing

I then stamped my star stamp & Happy Christmas & heat embossed them using gold embossing powder to make them 'pop' & become the focus of the postcard.

I kept the subtleness & stamped the wording underneath the star again using blue stazon ink in a triangle to represent the top of the tree.

I tried various attempts at this using more colour & bling but much preferred this version.

It was very difficult to photograph though, so hope that the recipient finds it better in real life :-)

Recovering.................

After a dreadful few weeks which started with my MIL being rushed into hospital with heart problems, followed by losing my precious kitty to a tumour & the next day having surgery myself, the electrics failing in our house .....

the list just seems to go on!

Well I'm finally recovering & managed to do my first crafting for a while ........

This is my postcard for the November postcard swap over on UK Stampers

The theme is fireworks

I used my 'blob' stamp which reminded me of the burst of a firework & used Perfect Medium & glitter embossing powders to achieve the firework burst effect.

I used blue distress inks for the background 'sky'

and a small alphabet set for remember & the November & 5 from a stamp set to do the wording.

I love to join in with the postcard swap - it's lovely to get something nice in the post each month :-)

Postcard swapping

The theme for the August Postcard swap on UK Stampers is Tea Time

and this is my postcard for the swap.

For the background I used a torn page from an old book & distress inks.

I used a Paper Artsy script stamp & then over stamped with the pocket watch (a freebie from Craft Stamper magazine)

both of the other sentiments are Paper Artsy stamps

The cup & saucer is another Craft Stamper magazine freebie

I firstly stamped it onto the card in the position that I wanted, then stamped another onto white card & inked it & then liquid embossed to make it more prominent & shiny to draw the eye. 

It was then left to dry properly & then stuck down firmly.  

I'm looking forward to seeing the other participants creations now :-)

Postcard

This is the postcard that I've created to join in the July postcard swap over at UK Stampers

The theme for this month is Red White & Blue

You make your postcard & post it to the thread & at the end of the month are given your swapee & you sent it as a postcard through the regular mail & you get one in return :-) Neat eh?

After sticking down the various papers, red & white squared & 

red & white dots along with the 2 colours of bazil bling I then punched out a circle & used the inset as a stencil to create the red 'sun/moon'

I then used my new buildings stamp from Hero Arts (it 'fell' into my basket when crafty shopping yesterday!!) & stamped it using blue ink, then punched out the stars from the background red/white paper & another blue paper.

Finally I added the sentiment, part of a set from Paper Artsy, & inked the edges.

I really had fun doing this :-)
